GOVERNMENT OF IMO STATE
PRESS RELEASE
SUBJECT: - IMO GOVERNOR FILES SUIT AGAINST
ARARAUME, IHEDIOHA, INEC & PDP
Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas and his Party, APC have filed a suit at the Federal High Court asking the Court to order INEC to stop Senator Ifeanyi Araraume and Hon. Emeka Ihedioha from further Campaigning for the Governorship election in the State until the Court determines who is the real Candidate of the Party.
Also joined in the Suit against Araraume and Ihedioha are the PDP and INEC. The Governor and his Party, APC, are asking the Court to stop Araraume and Ihedioha, both of them Campaigning now for the April 11, 2015 guber election in the State on the platform of the PDP, until the Court rules on their matter to determine who among them is actually the Candidate of their Party, PDP.
In the Suit No. FHC/OW/CS/68/2015, the plaintiffs are contending that allowing the two people to be Campaigning for the governorship election would place the APC and its Candidate at disadvantage since what would be on the ballot papers are the Logos or symbols of the Political Parties and not the Candidates.
Governor Okorocha and his Party, APC cited the case of Chief Achike Udenwa who lost the Senatorial election for Orlu zone in 2011 because two people, Chief Hope Uzodinma and Senator Osita Izunaso contending for the PDP ticket were allowed to be Campaigning until the election was conducted, and the votes for those who voted for Izunaso and those who voted for Uzodinma were counted for PDP at the end of the day, and the ACN Candidate, Chief Udenwa lost.
